    FS700 linked media appears offline

I have been linking to several folders of media files (from different cameras) in my current project and selectively transcoding. All generally fine on most of the footage but I am having problems with all the folders of Sony FS700 footage. Media Composer appears to link to the clips but then when I double click them I get 'media offline'. Any thoughts anyone?

    Thanks.

Hi Insch, have you tried changing the plugin to the correct one in the 'files of type' drop down menu when linking? i.e. change it from autodetect (which doesn't always work well) to the specfic sony one. I'm not sure on the FS700 plugin but our Fs7 uses the XAVC/XDCAM one.

Actually according to Avid, auto detect is the preferred mechansim to use for any folder based media.

I believe this has only been the case for the last few versions of MC 8. Prior to that, in my experience, manually selecting the correct AMA codec was more reliable for many formats.

Agreed, we have just updated all suites to the latest version, from 8.3 - hopefully autodetect does work now (haven't tested it yet) but for the Fs7 footage it didn't previously on both our ingest machines - always had to select the AMA plugin.

Thank you everyone. Just got back to check this post. Will try manually setting plug-ins. I am using the latest version of MC.

I found out that the Sony plug-in wasn't installed at all. It now is and all is well. Thanks.
