I am considering adding the Mojo DX (for SDI in and for Monitoring) on my z840 workstation.I have reviewed this site:http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Compatibility/HP-Z840-Workstation-Slot-Order-Configuration
Can I use Slot 3 or 4 for the Mojo DX or is Slot 5 the only slot recommended? And I need to change some jumpers on the motherboard too?
UPDATE: MOJO DX IS RECOMMENDED FOR SLOT5 - BUT SLOT 5 IS ALSO RESERVED FOR THUNDERBOLT CARD. Is anyone running both MOJO/NITRIS DX AND Thunderbolt on z840?
ThanksDarin
I think you have stumbled onto the Pro Tools config doc. Here's where I'd go to get the specs on an MC setup:

Thanks Job ter Burg! I need to get a tour of the new website as my searches are getting me where I need to be. :) thanks!

Okay, it says that MOJO DX needs to go into Slot 5 on the z840. The Workstation came with Thunderbolt card already in that PCI slot(#5). any suggestions?
Pretty sure that this means you cannot run DX and TB in a blessed setup.
Don't worry about it.
Any slot with 4 pcie lanes will do.
If it boots up, get's detected, and doesn't ask "oh, is this a laptop computer?" you're good to go.
i says 98% no prob.
Lucas, would you recommend keeping the TB or the DX in slot #5?
Can't say
The thunderbolt adapter, I think will only work in a specific slot.
You need an add-on chip or something on the motherboard for thunderbolt pcie cards.
Thunderbolt is 4 lanes pci-e + display port. so at least display port shouldn't work in any slot.
trying will tell. rest assured: you can't break anything.
The only rule i follow is this: the most expensive pcie card is the furthest away from any hot gpus ;)
but looking at your specs that ain't a problem.
Also I'd like to add: if you have an easy choice, stay away from thunderbolt.
I think that standard is going the way of the dodo, while devices will probaly keep working via usb 3.x
pcie is the real deal, sits directly on the cpu, not going anywhere.
if you can get the same device in that standard, slightly rather do that.
Nitris/Mojo DX will pretty much work in any slot assuming there is enough bandwidth (PCIe2 x4).
The TB card is designed to work only in a specific slot for each z series model.
