MC 8.4.5 on OS X 10.9.5 slow startup and load

    Hi all,

Media Composer 8.4.5 on OS X 10.9.5 is having ridiculously slow startup load times.  This is both WITH and WITHOUT ISIS connection via ethernet and with a Nitris DX connected.  Even loading a local project, quitting and trying to reload that local project the startup time between the load of the software and the moment when the "choose project" window comes up is approximately 4 minutes or more.  This is on multiple machines that I have tested the issue on.  Has anyone ever seen this?

Specs include: 32GB of RAM on MacPro 2 x 2.8 Ghz 6 core Intel.  The only thing I wonder is tha my graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048MB.  Could that be it?

I have already tried deleting the msm files from the local Avid Media Files directory containing the "offline media" etc. clips per a suggestion.  This did not help.  Very frustrating for me and my editor.

    Hi Steve,

Try quitting the application manager before you startup and see if makes a difference.

From the old Apple Quadro 950 to HP Z8xx. My current own systems: 1x Z420 E5 1650 32GB memory quadro K2200, 1x XW8600, 2x 3.0Ghz Quadcore, 24GB memory... [view my complete system specs]

    It did not.

Though, now I am starting to think it is ISIS related as I tried a local project, quit out, disconnected from the ISIS, and loaded the local project quickly.

    Any thoughts on ISIS issues?

I don't have any ISIS experience, but wondering if updating to v4.7.5 is an option? That seems to be the latest version with your config.

Otherwise, are there other ISIS users out there that have a similar config that may or may not experience this same issue?

@steve62179: is it beachballing while loading AVX2 Plugins? Check out this article and see if it matches your situation:

    http://www.provideocoalition.com/sleuthing-avid-media-composer-startup-beach-ball/

    Then:

    1. Quit MC.

    2. Try removing your AVX2 Plusgins.

    3. Relaunch MC.

    4. If it's faster, re-add them one by one.

    5. Relaunch MC until it beachballs again.
