We've recently updated to MC 8.5. Things have been much smoother in this version, such as trimming (much less sticky now).
However, I been getting a re-occuring message when laying footage from a sequence loaded in my source monitor to a new sequence:
AMPI_SESSION_CONNECT_OUTPUT_ERROR
It's quite tempremental, but has only started happening in this version. Once I ok it, I can normally carry on, but it is starting to get frustrating.
Any ideas?
I am getting the same error and using the same procedure, whenever I am quickly cutting footage (or another sequence) from the source monitor into the timeline. i get the AMPI SESSION CONNECT OUTPUT ERROR.... which if i try to continue on and work through it i get a "Segmentation fault" in "Main thread", at Address 0x0. and that compeltely crashes Media Composer.
We as well just updated to MC 8.5. Please anyone help, this is killing all productivity.
I am on a Mac Pro (Late 2013 OS X 10.10.5). Processor 3.5 Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5. Memory 32GB. Graphics AMD FirePro D700.
AMPI errors are generally related to the AudioSuite plug ins, so I'd check your installation of them etc.

Try the Mac forum as well...

Can we go back to the way audio nodes used to be selected? Please? ie if you have audio nodes at the same time on selected tracks; then selecting 1 audio node selects them all at that time. Having to shift select nodes or add an in and out is time consuming and counter productive. At least make it an option.
Hi, I'm OP and we're using PCs. What do you mean by check installation? We've never used any additional Audio Suite plugins. Is there a way or re-installing them on their own?
Thanks

Hi Ben - I've never seen that particular error. I know there was a startup error with Avid and AMPI that involved putting a particular dll or exe into the Data Execution Prevention section of Windows, but that doesn't sound like this error. Do you have any third party hardware connected? Did you create a new user and user settings when you upgraded and new site settings?
Just want to add to the conversation. We are having the same exact error doing the exact same thing. We cut a clip in and then hit play quickly and we get AMPI or "Segment fault'.
We tried multiple machines, projects, storage. started happening when we upgraded to 8.5.
Talked to support and they are "working on it" but nothing yet.
Have the exact same error after upgrading to 8.5 - Has never experienced the problem with 8.4
Got two exact identical setups - (macpros etc) - and the one running 8.4 has no problems.
So looking forward to get a a solution.
Same here. I get it all the time when i make a cut and hit playback too fast. Like, after every cut.
FYI, I heard back from AVID, it is now offically considered a bug.
I love it.
How I live with Avid these days.
We are also experiencing this error on a rather big network show, on ISIS. Anyone have any more info?
is it fixed in 8.5.1??

We updated 2 of our z820s to 8.5.1 yesterday and this issue appears on both of them. We tried doing what the Knowledge base suggests, but none of it had any effect so far. Happens if you press space right after splicing or overwriting on the timeline. I'm glad we decicded that the other 5 machines be udpated to 8.4.x
Any staff updates on this issue?
