Hello Everyone, I've try to search the answer everywhere but can't find it, here's the problem :

My TV Broadcaster I works with on the last 3 years, starting to broadcast in Digital and ask me to kind of file

FOR SD Broadcast :

Type of File : .mov

SD 16/9 - 1024x576

Codec : mpeg30 MXF

FOR HD Broadcast :

Type of file : .MXF OP1a

HD 16/9 - 1920x1080i

Codec : XDCAMHD 50

Whatever I've tryied in the last 3 months, it's never the good format, and it's always refused :

For SD, because I can't find MPEG 30, I've proposed IMX30 (in .MXF not .MOV with MXF OP1a Option) but the audio has 4 audio track, not 2 as ask by tv broadcaster -> Refused

For HD, the file is created with MXF OP1a Option, but for unknown reason, is not working with them -> Refused

they keep telling me, the other producer have no problem, SO my question is What I'm missing here?! do you have any trick or any idea to find the exact codec asked for SD and for HD ?!

All of our PC are on AVID Media Composer 6.5.2 and we have also one mac with 6.5.2 just in case

While I can not answer your questions directly, I would say that you could ask for two things:

1.  More detailed techinical specs.  The SD request is problematic in that it say Type of File: .mov and the it says Codec: mpeg30 MXF.  The issue here is that MXF and .mov are really the same in that they are containers, not codecs.  Now this could be a typo on their part, but you should get that cleared up - which is it?

2.  Ask for sample files that meet their specs.  Then download Mediainfo.     https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo    Use this tool to see exactly what they want.  Then make tests from your tools till you match it.

You may not be able to directly create the SD file from Avid.  You may need a third party tool such as Squeeze or Adobe Media Encoder.

You don't supply a digital file for TV for SD at 1024x576 thats for a square pixel web based playback.

The 601 spec (the Default Digital TV Spec) it's 720x576 flagged as anamorphic.

And yes is it MXF of MOV? they are different.

Thanks for your Answer Jef, I've already figure it out that could be a typo for SD, but they still say it's not,

Today, we succeed to create an MPEG30 .mov (create a Videomixdown in MPEG30, then export a same as source of the timeline, with that solution I've the good container (.Mov), and I think the good codec (MPEG30), but not the good pixels size) Do you know a solution for that?

Next week I will give them that test to check just in case.

By the way, my problem with that TV broadcaster, they don't have a permanent technician to talk with, so I don't know who write the technical specs, and no one can told me more detailled stuff. And don't ask me why, they don't want to share sample (or don't know how to) and to complete that, of course they're losing patience (yeah, French people are really weird sometime) :-D

I've send to the channel, your answer and Jef's one too, to support what i've already tell them, I'm still waiting an answer from them, I've work with multiple channel, and it's the first time someone ask a different kind of file, I've try to send them the regular one, but it's seems to not work with their system.

I'd stick with the HD MXF op1a Option.

it is the standard broadcast format in europe, avid excells at conforming to these specs (i'm, looking at you, adobe)

did you apply a safe color limiter? i like to limit rgb values to 16 and 235.

is your timeline set to interlaced? broadcasters want interlaced, even if material inside is progressive.

it's dubious that they don't mention audio levels. i'd do what everybody does: ebu r128
