Hi,

I tried adding a third audio track as normal by pressing Ctrl-U.

It inserted 'A9'!

Subsequent tracks are inserted sequentially - A10, A11 etc.

If I try Ctrl/Alt - Y and manually tell it to insert audio track 3, I get 'this track already exists'!

Where are tracks 3-8??

You may have accidentally hidden some tracks. On the timeline, to the bottom left, there is a hamburger menu. In it, you will find a 'Show Track' option. It lets you choose which tracks to show/hide.

Alternatively, create a new timeline setting.

Yes, spot on thanks Job. No idea how those tracks got hidden.
