    about to install MC 8.4.2

    Hi all

Im about to upgrade from 7.0.2 to 8.4.2 but before i do, is there anyting i really ned to know about that may not work.

Alos i notice there is a 8.4.2 patch installer. Is this to run after the main install or should i use this immediately after uninstalling 7.0.2 on a clean system

Do i need to uninstall the ama plug ins or are they good for the new version

if i need new ones, where are they located?

How crucial is it to upgrade quicktime and nvidea gfx firmware. I have never had an "approved" card and dont expect to have one anytime soon. largely as ALL my previos avids have worked on the vodeo card i have perfectly well. Is the new software any more demanding in this respect.

I would uninstall 7.0.2. Download the full 8.4.0 installer and 8.4.2 patch.  Install the full installer. Install the 8.4.2 patch. This will allow you to roll back to 8.4.0 (remove patch) of you come across a 8.4.2 bug that affects your workflow. There have been a few posts here from people who have problems with 8.4.2  (I am not one of them)  FWIW MC 8.4.2, PT HD 12.3 and Resolve 12.1 studio are all happily coexisting on W7 SP1 here at present.

Always a good idea to make sure you have the latest AMA versions of Plugins that are appropriate to your media needs.

I rarely update QuickTime so am at least 1 version back from the latest for PC's and having NVIDIA card have updated that driver to the one that comes with the MC 8.4.2 install.
