Perhaps I m a littke bit old fashion and I don t like to say goodbey to my old machine and staying editing on Mc 5.5.2. with dongle but now the time is come to end.
In november 2014 I bougt the perpetual opgrade MC 8 but never used it. It is still on my avid account. I bought a new computer so I want to use MC 8 at my new machine. But what is the best way to do it.
Do I have to ugrade the dongle at the old machine or is it possible to do it on my new computer with the donge manager ???
Do I have instal the sotftware MC 8 at the new computer first ?
Who can give me advice ? Thanks
Hi Roel,
I'm not a fan of software licensing either. In my experience, as long as the Dongle Manager can see the dongle and read the dongle file, you should be able to blast it either way.
Cheers,
Ben Wilson

AFAIK, you can update the Dongle to the new computer you need to obtain the update file from your Avid Account.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of the editing application, you must first uninstall the previous version before you install and activate your new software. You will need your original System ID to activate your upgraded product. After you uninstall your old application, the installation process will be identical to the standard installation.
If no previous version is installed you need to install MC 8 first. You can either update with Dongle or Upgrade from a Dongle license and converting to a software license.
I suggest you go over this installation FAQ before deciding to install MC 8.4
Good luck,
Ralph
Thanks !!
I have understood that I can do the whole installation from my new computer. The machine is clean no previous version
so I can do dongle update and instal MC 8
It is not my daily job en technical English is difficult for me. But I try and...
I ll study the installation FAQ
Thanks Ben.
