Single Field Quicktimes exports have fields in them.

So none of my systems will export a single field Quicktime in 8.0. (h264 or other codecs) Tried on Multiple systems, 8.x versions, and OS versions, 10.8, 10.9 & 10.10, and they all have fields in them.

I posted about this before and didn't get any help, but as an update it looks like the issue is some how realted to Filler. If there is filler for the first frames, it will not makes single field quicktime. If all filler is removed, it works. This has been like this for all versions of 8.0

I haven't seen this bug posted anywhere else, and wanted to know if anyone else has foudn a fix. We use single field versions for online approval and really need this fixed.

    Thanks you.

What's the project format?  Filler will follow the project format and the first clip on the timeline will determine the format for any mixdowns or same as source exports.  Normally this is a good thing.  Occasionally, not so much.

One possible solution: make a black title in the same format as the other media on the timeline and see if that gives you any relief.

+1 for the black title; I tend to make one early on called 'nothing' and have it ready for bodging transitions

But had no idea mixdowns determined by first clip rather than project format - thanks for info!

    30iNTSC or 1080 59i.

However these aren't same as sorce or mixdowns, these are single field Quicktime exports, so project settign should not matter.

The black title maybe a work around at this point, will test it out.

Also not sure what version of Avid you're on but Mixdown format is determined when you mixdown (it asks for the resolution) and Same as Source exports mixed format qucktimes now, so all resolutions in the time line are exported not just the first clip.

Yes, mixdowns can be set or will default to the setting in the Media Creation tool.

Quicktimes can't have mixed formats, same as source will export a QT with the codec of the first clip regardless of whatever codec the following clips posess.  Only a QT reference movie will allow mixed formats, as it's just a reference to other media.
