Hello all, I have found a doc a while back with this information but can no longer locate it. Does anybody know what the actual usable disk space is for the three differant sizes of ISIS 5500? Or have the doc referencing it? Would be a huge help, thank you in advance.
MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 15" w/8 GB of Ram, Media composer v6.5
on our ISIS 5000-32 - we have 21.81TB usable.
I don't have accses to our ISIS 5000-16 at the moment but from memory i think it is 10.9TB usable.
Can't tell on the ISIS 5500-64 as we dont own one.
Cheers
Dori
It is a fairly easy to calculate. Subtract 4 drives from the chassis (1 for each of the 3 RAID5 groups and 1 for the hot spare). 32TB is 16 drives of 2TB. 32 - (4x2) = 24TB or 21.83TiB.

...and then you have to have at least 10% free space of each Workspace.
AND for the whole ISIS system you should create a workspace called OVERHEAD which you keep at least 7% of the whole area of the system.
So for the 21,83TiB you have... you ending up with... well not that much anymore... depending on how many Workspaces you create. But don't forget the OVERHEAD 7% Workspace! If you try to push the limit... then the system just goes down.
Like Avid says, read the white papers!
The 7% overhead is new to me.
Working with 5x ISIS 5000 system at 3 sites for almost 4 years.
We keep 10% free on each workspace, and we never go over 95% of the entire system
The ISIS systems are rock solid, some of them are working at our facility for more than a year without having to restart a system even once.
My 2 cents.

Effectlivey the same.
