    The "3D DVE"... (again)...

Sylvain, I know that you've told me numerous times that there will be no further
development in the DS's 3D DVE area. And it's because of that I was quite surprised,
when I a while back, found that the naming of some of the menuitems in the 3D DVE
has changed? More specifically for the menues that appear when you right-click in the
Viewer-window after choosing "Rotate" or "Light".

So I just wonder why someone at Avid goes to the trouble of changing these, when there
are real mishalfs that needs fixing first, like the issue with the "Camera (K)" parameters
that only can be viewed in Direct Mode" but never are transferred to the output?
Or was it a big demand for these name changes?

And regarding the "Camera (K)" parameter, as I also said numrous times before.
I'll never believe the explanation that states that this parameter couldn't make it
through the 32- to 64-bit conversion. The four others did. like "Camera Pan (I)", "Dolly (P)",
"Tumble (O)" and "Roll (L)". So why not "Camera (K)"?

My firm belief is that someone had a bad hair day, and put the wrong letter in a parameter
name somewhere in the code, so that the the parameters in different areas of the code
aren't identified/linked correctly. A single uppercase letter in place of a lowercase, or vice versa,
    is all it takes.

And I can understand that someone now feel the urge to comment on to why I keep
dwelling on this antique subject, because there are more important issues that needs
adressing, like the DS's inability to handle a lot of the newer fiile formats natively.

Well, fine, there are, and I would have settled with the notion that there will be "no
more development", but then I noticed this name changing. What for? And that makes
me upset, because they've actually taken away a feature from the 3D DVE that we used
a lot. To get in close and get great and/or weird perspectives.

    Grrrowl...

I was out of the office since Monday so I did not see your message, sorry if you thought that I was ignoring you.

I was not aware of any such changes in the 3D DVE, honestly. I'll have a chat with engineering and try to understand why this happened.

But I also want to inform you that I will be offline for the next three weeks as I am taking much needed vacations. So this will explain my silence and absence from this community during this period.

Many employees on vacation so I am not getting answers yet...  Ok, I'll log this information and I'll get back to it when I come back from my own time off.

    Cheers!

    Re: The "3D DVE"... (again)...

So, Sylvain, with the new DS EOL info thrown in our face, could you
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE se to that the two issues in the 3D DVE will
be fixed while you still have some coders left in the building?

Unless, Avid will leave the 3D-DVE EOL'ed in worse condition than it
    was in v7.6.

    Pretty, please...
