Some things I have noticed with the Avid File>Import command:
If the file's framerate does not match the current project's framerate the Avid is not prompting the user that a framerate conversion is about to take place.
Will make the duration of the source icon match the duration of the clip.
The full file name plus extension is the metadata name for the source icon name and matches the metadata in the "Source File" column.
If importing an Avid exported quicktime movie that does not have a native Avid codec, the Avid will shift the gamma -1.2 percent.
Creates a History of the import settings used. The Avid remembers what settings were activated at the time the file>import command was used. This is helpful for the batch import command (batch import was added version 8.1 XL)
Thanks Scott.
