Hi everyone, I am preparing to edit some footage shot on a iPhone with Filmic Pro. when I download the QT files they will play fine with Window Media Player but have a hard time loading in QT Player, the audio plays with no video. When I use AMA to bring the fooatge into Symphony they system locks up. Other QT's from other projects play fine. I'm running symphony on a Z400 with 12gigs of Ram, 1TB internal sata drive, dual monitors with a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT video card. Does anyone know what could be causing these QT's to not play in QT PLayer and work in Symphony?
Thanks
The Filmic Pro website does not say which codec is being used by this app but since the files don't play in QT then Avid's not going to like them either.
Download MediaInfo and check out the codec used and the frame rate.
Maybe you can find a way of converting the files...
Go to the QuickTime Control Panel and select the Advanced Tab. Under Video, make sure Safe mode is selected.
The GeForce card is not supported with Symphony and the nvidia driver can be causing problems. A nvidia Quadro GFX card is required.

Though it could be an arduous process (depending on how many clips you have and the lengths), if all else fails you might use Sorenson Squeeze to transcode them into something the Avid likes. This is a workaround, not an answer to you question, of course.
Thanks everyone, this is the first time for our team working with shooting 1 on an iphone and 2 using filmic pro. I was downloading the fooatsge through Dropbox. Not sure if dropbox might be the cause of it. But the files do not play in quicktime player on my PC or the director's Mac. I tried the first to solutions I used mediainfo found out the files are MP4(quicktime) with video stream AVC and I switch the perference to safemode. Still nothing with it being in safe mode and other MP4's on my system that are MP4(base) play fine. I'm going to try and squeeze it.
You should contact Filmic Pro. It sounds like you're going to need their codec in order to play the file back.
On the Mac try installing Perian. This is known to cause problems with Gamma levels and H.264 QT files, but it might be able to decode the files. Once the files are transcoded, it should be removed.
FWIW, I'm AMAing filmic pro 29.97 fps iPhone 4 files into Media Composer 6 on a PC with no problems at all. They appear to be run of the mill h.264 quicktime files. I'm also using a GeForce card.
I guess the only useful thing I'm adding to this conversation is that it's possible to do. What framerate, iphone version and Quicktime versions are you using?
