    AMA LINKING PROBLEMS..

I am encountering problems linking to AMA on CanonXF. I've been able to transcode some of my rushes but the remainder throw up this error message and crashes out of AVID:

     'DIDDescriptor: GetAAFProperties: XDCAMHD Unsupported resolution'

I don't know what more plug-ins there are for me install. I'm using MC6.. Any takers?!

    Re: AMA LINKING PROBLEMS..

What frame rate / size is the footage and what project are you in?

If you're unsure of the footage take a look at it in Canon's XF Utility to check frame rate and size.

    regards

    Brian

You need to have both the Canon XF and the Avid MXF Plugin for this camera to work.

Links to AMA plugins can be found here.

    Re: AMA LINKING PROBLEMS..

I believe that's correct, Canon do suggest using 23.976 for most purposes :

    Warning — 23.98 fps vs. 24.00 fps

EOS C300 cameras allow users to choose two frame rates that at first glance appear to be “24P”.

For conventional digital video recording at “24P”, users normally want to actually be shooting

at 23.976 fps. To accomplish this, proceed as indicated directly above (MENU > Other Functions

    > Frame Rate), and choose 23.98P.

However, for video recording which must be precisely tied to existing 24.00 fps film footage,

there’s a completely separate fps setting:

    MENU > Other Functions > 24.00p

It cannot be over-emphasized — the 24.00P setting is NOT for general-purpose video

recording. DO NOT set 24.00P unless you deliberately intend to match video files

with existing film footage which was shot at 24 fps in a film camera, or unless postproduction

staff have specifically instructed camera operators to use this setting

    instead of 23.976P.

One workround for 24fps Canon material is to use Sorenson Squeeze to transcode to DNxHD

    regards

    Brian

    Re: AMA LINKING PROBLEMS..

I've used AMA to link to CanonXF305-generated MXF clips with no problems (at least with the linking aspect). You might already be doing this, but be sure that the entire folder structure is intact. Link to the directory one level up from the "contents" folder.

    Good luck

    Re: AMA LINKING PROBLEMS..

Hi, i also encountered the same thing.

I shoot on a C300 with the overall 24P setting.

I was shooting for a company doing Cinema-Ads in 24P for a digital cinema projekction system.

Premiere Pro seems to work with these MXF files with no problem.

But there is no way getting the into the MC 5.5.3 on OSX 10.6.8 which i am currently on.

No AMA, no import - nada.

Waht is the problem with these files?

Why should i have been shooting 23.something?
