kellyv:Mountain Lion did you do a clean install or install over Lion?
Larry Rubin: Since on Mac platforms, ANY Avid NLE software upgrade or patch update is considered and treated as a full version install, requiring an uninstall of the current version, you should always deactivate your software license first through the ALC (Avid License Control) application before uninstalling the current version. No exceptions to that rule.

Larry, thanks for the quick response on this. I could swear that in the 6.0.1 upgrades thread it was stated that it wasn't necessary, but I will deactivate every time from now on, that just makes sense.
AndrewAction: This is the quickest that I can remember that Avid have supported a new OS. I would have thought this would be welcomed with open arms by the "must have the latest" Mac crowd. I took it as a sign that ML is more friendly to Avid than 10.7.x

I was shocked how quick Avid got this out, and it is a great sign. Despite the iOS-ification of OS X, I have read that everything in ML is snappier and a great upgrade in terms of efficiency, so I'm anxious to give it a shot but couldn't move along without Avid. A very, very welcome update from the Avid team.
Hello,
10.7.4 not being listed was an oversight, the readme has been corrected and reposted. Here is the updated link

AndrewAction: Robert Goodman :so whats the verdict? 10.7.4 support or no? 10.7.4 is not yet supported. Robert you were obviously an early mover to 10.7.4 (I skipped 10.7.3 and 10.7.4) so why not jump to 10.8? The Mountain Lion upgrade cost peanuts, and took less than 15 minutes to install here. Avid is installed on the laptop along with Resolve 9 Beta (which suggested it was happiest with 10.8)

actually i didnt. Im on Lion 10.7.3 and havent budged, waiting for what Avid was goona do. While it may be easy for some to just install Mountain Lion, im using a whole slew of other software that hasnt been as quick as Avid to update for Mountain Lion, so tons of AU's/RTAS for Protools and Logic arent supported yet, and frankly theres nothing convincing me to go ML.. i dont need notfications of tweets and all that, so i figure if i can just stay on Lion then why not. I would stay on 10.7.3 cause my system seems pretty rock solid now, but theres other software i couldnt update cause i wasnt on 10.7.4 yet thats id like to do.
On top of that, the readme was jsut updated, so whatever you just typed was based on your own assumptions and not fact, and now we have 10.7.4. support. Everyones happy.

Oh Dang. No corresponding update to Unity MediaNet Mac FC client means we stay on 10.7.2.
Starting the install over...
Is there a best protocol? Should I uninstall 6.0.1.1, then update to Mountain Lion and then install 6.0.3? Or does it not matter what sequence one uses?
Tom Dziedzic:Should I uninstall 6.0.1.1, then update to Mountain Lion and then install 6.0.3?
That's exactly what you should do, and don't forget to deactivate your software license before uninstalling. If you're running a dongle, you can disregard deactivating.

Dongles rule!
Hi everyone, just installed the Symphony 6.0.3 update on my 27" 2011 imac i7 with Mountain Lion. Just started to use but very dissapointed to see I still can't type in audio pan values :-(
That was one of the fixes, no? Seems small, but that may be the number one time suck for me since going to MC/Sym 6
Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place
For everybody who want to use Marquee in MC don't update to Moutain Lion OS 10.8 because Marquee is not running.
After deactivating.
When I run either the 6.0.1.1 or 6.0.3 UNinstaller:
1) I see a quick list of what should be uninstalled.
2) Then I get this message:
"The Avid Media ComposerApplications.pkg package will not be uninstalled.
(null)"
I'm already on 10.7.4 which has worked fine with 6.0.1.1.
HELP! How do I force an uninstall?

This is the first report of failure to uninstall I have seen. To clarify, the procedure should be:
1) Use the ALC (Avid License Control) application in the "Avid Utilities" folder to deactivate the Media Composer software license.
2) Remove MC 6.0 full version using files in the "Uninstallers" folder, which will also uninstall the 6.0.1.1 patch. You need only uninstall the Avid MC Applications.pkg.
3) Install the full version of MC 6.0.3.
I'm unclear why you mention running the 6.0.3 uninstaller.
