Question: I was called in to assist with a problem where Scratch Lab was used to create dailies. The original F65 camera file names were not put in the metadata when the mxf media and ale were created. Editors didnt catch it and edited weeks worth of footage. We want to merge an ale with the source filename data into the existing master clips. That works, but when the sequence cut earlier using the.incomplete masterclips is decomposed, the filename metadata does not show up in the subclips created. It does show up in the new masterclips created by the decompose. An aaf export and re import of the sequence yields a sequence, masterclips with the new filename metadata and subclips without the filename metadata. Will this cause an issue in conform (using pablo) or is having the correct filename in the masterclip sufficient?

Why are you decomposing? You would normally merge metadata from the ALE into the existing master clips. All subclips and sequences referring to the original master clips would then automatically include this metadata.
Is there any form of tapename? Otherwise, base in what data would the ALE merge?
If you can merge in data from a new ALE, you should at the very least be able to add a CamRoll entry, which you can use a source in EDL manager, so you can EDL out to Pablo.
The decompose was just a test to see what was in the sequence. We are merging a camroll field with filenames into existing masterclips. The camroll field changes in the masterclips but not in subclips that are relatives of those masterclips. Any clues why or if it matters.
If you check the subclips, make sure that the bins with the changed master clips are open. Also, create an EDL and see if that detects the CamRoll.
Alternatively, after you lock the cut, duplicate it, place it in a bin, add all changed master clips, select all, and choose Relink To Selected.

Thanks for your kind words!
