Access Violation Error with AVID Media Composer 4.0.5

    Hi fellow forum users,

I am having a lot of trouble with my AVID product and have had it for quite some time, and i dont know how to solve it.

First i will post the information i know:

    Product: AVID Media Composer 4.0.5
    Windows: MS Windows XP
    Computer: HP xw8400 workstation
    RAM: 2.7 GB

The errors i get are the following:

    1.

    Title: Error
Description: An access violation exception occured. For more information see errorlog: c:\documents and settings\all users\documents\avid media composer\avid fatalerrorreports\exception 2012.01.12.36.58\

I can only press OK on this error.

Afterwards i get the next error:

    2.

    Title: Exception: Structured Exception
    Description: ExceptionCode: 0xc0000005, ExceptionString:ACCESS VIOLATION, FaultAddress: 0x2b6f23b, MInidumpFileName:4f3b10a2-bef5-4267-af36-72bd9acb073e.dmp

I can press OK on this error too, but then the computer freezes. Sometimes i can get it to unfreeze again, sometimes not. Its quite frustrating since i have to deliver a project very soon to a customer.

Has anyone experienced this error before - and what can be done?

Thanks in advance for all your help and time :)

Could it have something to do with this? Or is the problem related to something else?

The MC Version Matrix specifies Win XP Pro SP2 or SP3, QT 7.6.4, nVidia 190.38.  Your SP1 may or may not be at fault.  More than likely, it's a permissions isue.  See this Knowledge Base article.

Re: Access Violation Error with AVID Media Composer 4.0.5

Okay - an update on what ive tried.

AVID media composer is crashing almost all the time with the error that i posted originally. i have checked the versions of QT, Windows Update and drivers - and all live up to the required specifications.

The graphics card has been replaced and so has the external harddrive that the projects are saved on. So it cannot be those parameters.

I have also checked whether simple filesharing is enabled and it IS NOT!

Last but not least i have reinstalled avid media composer without any change in condition.

So im getting a bit frustrated!

I am pasting the logfile to which the error is pointing to.

Re: Access Violation Error with AVID Media Composer 4.0.5

I am getting same error and I am only playing back the media on the timeline and my other PC is getting this same error when trying to save the project which doesn't seem to let me save it.

    Anyone has an idea?

Re: Access Violation Error with AVID Media Composer 4.0.5

HP Z400 Windows 7 Pro 64Bit. Media Composer v5.5 and for the media I am using the G-Raid ES connected via the SATA and it is a Raid 0. I understand what others have suggested in the forum which I already have read the other posts but no solution yet.

The only solution I have come up with so far is to delete the Database files and re-boot which seems to have fixed the issue for awhile and then eventually it does start  doing the same thing which forces me to do the same process over again.
