I bought the 5.x to 5.5 upgrade last week,  in anticipation of MC6 being free...right / I just visited the AVID store and

they say free upgrade if you purchased and registered the MC5.5 with AVID .... My problem is that I did not register my mc5.5 product before Nov 14 ..... obviously the question is whether I am still eligible for the free 6.0 upgrade?

Considering that the deadline is actually today, and that there are currently problems with the registration site, I think an email to Marianna would be in order, but PLEASE BE PATIENT. She is really swamped with emails and tomorrow looks to be a busy, crazy day - but she WILL get to you.

and slow.  I have a 60mbps download speed and it's going to take all day to download.  I let it download overnight, but for some reason it quit after getting only halfway through.  servers seem very slow, probably a lot of people downloading.

Marianna posted on the thread above.  They're aware of the download problems, and they're working on it.  Some of it may be that the only people currently eligible to download MC6 (as of right this moment) are people with support contracts getting it from the download centre, but not everyone understands this, so there are more people downloading than should be.

If you don't have a support contract, wait for the MC6 announcement on the forum later today, and follow the instructions there.

Today I went to www.avid.com/protect and I got the upgrade and license number. When I go to the to the Video Upgrade registration page to exchange the activation ID for the Dongle updater.avd file I need to input the purchase date.

Is the purchase date Today, as it is today that i got the Activation ID; or is it the day I purchased MC5.5 a week or so ago?

I downloaded the free upgrade from 5.5 to MC6. The installation of MC6 went smooth, no problem. When I tried to install Avid DVD, it ask me about the S/N, I could not find it, I use my old S/N for it and it worked, now I have ver.6.4.4. This trick did not work with  Sorenson. Where we are supposed to find the S/N for both Sorenson and Avid DVD?

Quick question - I am currently using MC 5.0.3 and am interested in upgrading mainly if it's going to make it faster for me with AMA files.  I have a project with really large XDCam HD  files and while it works, it's really slow. 

So my question is, can I install the trial version of 6.0 without messing up my 5.0.3 install?  I just want to try it before upgrading

Two different versions of Media Composer cannot live on the same computer unless you have a dual boot configuration. So you would need to deactivate and uninstall MC 5.0.3 before loading the trial version of MC 6.

The Sony AMA plugin for MC 6 is not available and will not be available for a while. Presently you CANNOT link XDCam files in MC 6. Be patient, don't hold your breath.

It worked, now I just sent an email for Production Suite License Request to videoreghelp@avid.com for the rest of the licenses.

I have the PC version of MC 6.0 installed. Got XDCAM AMA Plugin from Sony and when trying to install, it says I don't have "MC 5.5.x or higher" which I obviously do. Is this a known issue? Are we waiting for Sony to fix it?
